Presentation of the revolutionary Avions-Voisin C6 Laboratory before its participation in the Grand Prix Automobile de France held in Tours on 2 July 1923 (André Morel at the wheel).

Built around an aerofoil-shaped monocoque hull

of wood and aluminium, the result was a dazzlingly inventive racing car that looked quite unlike anything that had had gone before.

The unconventional thinker Gabriel Voisin (together with French designer Andre Lefebvre - famous for his Citroën 2CV and DS designs) had created what might be thought of as the first rudimentary ground effect Grand Prix racing car. Truly ahead of its time!

Absolutely amazing restoration of a glass plate photographic negative from the factory’s archives! And a unique representation of the pioneers of motor racing and engineering.

Pioneer of the Avant-garde 1923
